Grocery shopping at Costco and Tesco, laundry and cleaning the flat were part of our P-day this morning.  At noon we took the tube and toured St Paul's Cathedral.  The steps are famous from the musical "Mary Poppins" with the Julie Andrews singing "Feed the Birds".
Feed the Birds
Early each day to the steps of Saint Paul's
The little old bird woman comes
In her own special way to the people she calls
Come, buy my bags full of crumbs
Come feed the little birds, show them you care
And you'll be glad if you do
Their young ones are hungry
Their nests are so bare
All it takes is tuppence from you
Feed the birds, tuppence a bag,
Tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag
"Feed the birds, " that's what she cries
While overhead, her birds fill the skies
All around the cathedral the saints and apostles
Look down as she sells her wares.
Although you can't see it, you know they are smiling
Each time

St. Paul's Cathedral is amazing!!!  It is my favorite cathedral and wish all of our visitors had seen it.  The architect Sir Christopher Wren lived to see it finished.  The cathedral sits on an old cathedral sight dating back to Paul's time.  For more than 1400 years, a Cathedral dedicated to St. Paul has stood at the highest point of the city.  The present Cathedral is the masterpiece of Britain's most famous architect Sir Christopher Wren.  It was the highest point of the city until 1963. The inside is light and very inspiring.  It is not dedicated to royalty but to those that have given their lives for their county.  There is a section dedicated to Great Britain and America for the lives of men killed in WWII.  All the names of those killed are written in this huge book and on display.  Each day a page is turned with white gloves displaying the names.  How I wanted to take pictures to show.  We walked the 528 steps to the highest point called Golden Gallery.  Our knees were spongy by the time we arrived back at the cathedral floor.  I want to spend more time learning about St Paul's.

Anyone want to be part of this group???

We had dinner at Elder and Sister Christiansen's. The Christensen's are the Visitor Center directors. They were called as mission president at the age of 35 years old and they had four children, two which have been adopted.  When we arrived the office elders were there.  It was a simple but tasty meal.  She had cut up lettuce wedges with homemade Thousand Island dressing on it.  After we ate the salad she served meatless lasagna with mixed vegetable.  Dessert was a small dish of ice cream with a cookie sticking out of the ice cream.  We got to know the elders and they had been over earlier to help the Christensen's with setting up their computer.  His office is at his home now.  We visited for awhile and played one game of Five Crowns.  Our legs were tired from all the stairs at St Paul's and rode a bus close to home instead of walking home.
