Memorable day!!!
4 am and I hear the birds chirping!!! I was able to go back to sleep for a little while. Ready and out the door for Women's Conference at 6:40 am. Bus to leave Crawley Stake Centre at 7 am. I was able to get a ride with the Bridgstock family. Lesley told me not to fix a lunch that she was providing it for her and her daughters and me. We arrived in plenty of time to catch the bus. The bus driver was telling us some house keeping about the bus. He told and showed us a red handle and said, "If I am not here you can open the bus with this handle". At least that is what Lesley and I heard. I decided to got the the bathroom at the church and Lesley followed. The driver was outside and the door was closed!!! I asked Lesley if I should pull the handle and she said yes and of course 'I did it!! The handle did not open the door but the driver was right behind us holding his two hands to his head yelling, "OH, NO!" over and over. I did not realise that this was an emergency handle. Lesley and I got to our seats so the driver could pass us and was trying to figure out what to do. I tried to apologise but to no avail. Where did the bus driver come from? There is a special door in the middle of the bus that opens with stairs. I took off for the church. Lesley and I were in a bit of shock over the situation. I am so glad to have a partner in crime. Sara came over to give me a hug because I felt so bad about the situation. She said, "Maybe there is a reason we were not suppose to leave at that time!". I kept in my seat but dying because I wanted to help fix the problem. Well, to make a long story short the bus driver had a fit outside the bus. Lesley said he look like Rumpelstiltskin banging his feet on the ground. Okay - LOL! Jules, a member of the Crawley Ward and works at the temple came to the rescue. She had a tool box with a screw driver in it. The bus driver was not going to let her help. Someone suggested that the driver turn off the bus. Jules slipped in by the exit handle and fixed the problem in less than 20 seconds and withing two minutes had all the screws back in place. We all cheered for Jules who came to the rescue. After the Women's Conference I saw Jules. She said that it was a blessing to her that the handle got pulled. She had been feeling very lowly and needed that clapping and yelling! Lesley and I would just look at each other and burst out laughing. Lesley even took pictures of the red handle. We wouldn't be laughing if the handle hadn't been reset. The Lord does bless us in so many ways. We had a lovely conference which was titled "Certain Women" with lots of different workshops. Lesley bought prawn salads for us with water, juice, and lots of desserts. Lesley likes to take care of everyone.
I arrived home about 6:15 pm. I was so happy to see Clark. He had gone to the temple, vacuumed and worked in the office. We then took off to see "Cheaper by the Dozen" the old version with the temple missionaries in the old Visitors Centre called the Welcome Centre.
