Thursday, 29 March 2018

As I was getting ready to write on my blog, I realised that I haven't written for 3 days.  Shame on me.

It was a quite day in the office. Sister Gorgas was out of the office for the rest of the week with family.  Before the Parkers left for the day to run errands and a doctor appointment, they talked to us about taking Good Friday off and going to see Blenheim Palace with the Pearces and Madden.  Blenheim Palace is where Winston Churchill was born.   Yes - of course we will go - no matter what the weather!!!  We are willing companions to anything anyone suggests.

Since I wear shoes all the time it was
not hard to clean and smooth the ruff
parts of the heals.
Elder Wallace worked in the shed and organised it. As I watched through the office window, I saw Elder Wallace throwing a huge box of rubbish away.  He also took a load of rubbish to the recycling plant.  Sister Harkness and I were left alone in the office.  We worked on flat files and I was able to catch up on filing and other items.  It felt so good to be caught up and not have the stack of paperwork.  At 1:30 pm Sister Harkness and I went and got our first pedicures in England.  Lesley Bridgstock owns a shop that does facials, manicures and pedicures in Lingfield.  The shop is 10 minutes from the mission office but the road was closed and we had to go another way so we left early.  The shop is small and compact but is very busy with at least 4 full staff.  It is so fun to see my toes painted again.   The rooms were small and could not fit two people in the same room to have pedicures. They first took you into a room to wash your feet and another room to massage and paint nails.  I love red painted toes especially the deep red colour I picked.  It was a pampering moment and I did miss Edie and Betty.

We worked until 5 pm and returned home.  Elder Wallace worked on getting his license and I baked cookies and fixed dinner.  Rice with a chicken and white sauce with green beans.  Afterwards we watched a show called "Breathe" on YouTube.  A true story!  It very thought provoking! "After contracting polio at the age of 28, Robin Cavendish is confined to a bed and given only months to live. With help from his wife Diana and her twin brothers, and the groundbreaking ideas of inventor Teddy Hall, Cavendish emerges from the hospital ward and devotes the rest of his life to helping fellow patients and the disabled."
