Roman at the Roman Baths |
 |
Inside the Roman Baths |
We got to spend one more day sightseeing. We took the Graaviets to see Stonehenge and went to Bath to see the Roman Baths. It was a fun filled day of sightseeing and eating and walking and shopping. Elder Wallace bought a hat (£15) and I bought a small Italy purse for £20. Roman had bought a hat the other day and we talked Elder Wallace to try it. He looks very dashing!!! Reminds me of Doug Brown with his English hats. (OHHH - how I miss Doug!) I would of gotten more pictures but my phone is having battery problems and I couldn't get it to work.
The morning was cold and windy at Stonehenge and we enjoyed the sights of the stones and the placements. (History of Stonehenge)
Stonehenge is perhaps the world’s most famous prehistoric monument. It was built in several stages: the first monument was an early henge monument, built about 5,000 years ago, and the unique stone circle was erected in the late Neolithic period about 2500 BC. We enjoyed our walk around the stones. Sheep were just outside of the short fences of Stonehenge. We talked to a worker that told us the lands around Stonehenge are leased property. We were going to Salisbury but the time was to late and decided to end up at Bath. We found a great parking place so we could walk into the main part of Bath without riding a bus into town. The town of Bath is a wonderful place to shop and eat. In the middle of town is the Roman Baths. We took the tour and I enjoyed it as much the second time as I did the first. We found a great little shop to eat donuts and decided will return for a Cornish Pie for dinner - which we did. Travelling home was uneventful. We played a game of Five Crowns which Nanette was winning all the way until the last hand when Jeff went out on his second turn and won the game.
We hugged and kissed knowing our time was getting short. The Graviets were leaving us tomorrow to return home.
It wounds like everything went beautifully! Roman will have quite the story to tell when he gets home!
