Wednesday, 7 February 2018

I would like to say that today was a relaxing and I spent the day soaking in the bath tub and reading a book.  But guess what?  Didn't happen!  I am truly getting the hang of working full time.  We have a routine now and it seems easier each day.  We are having a wonderful time with the people in the office, temple missionaries, and staff running the grounds and Accommodations of the temple.  They are very good to us.  I think it is because Elder Wallace is so good to them. Elder Wallace is the one they go to for GPS' and driving skills and getting rides to the train station.

We went to the office for a few hours and then off to IKEA to exchange 20 mattress covers that were the size of a crib.  (it is hard ordering on line and the measurements are in metric.)  IKEA was great!  Not a problem returning them and buying 20 more new mattress covers besides pots and pans, curtains, squeegees, toilet bowl brushes and holders.  It was amazing that I returned mattress covers at £10 and paid £8 for the bigger ones.  We came out ahead.  We also stopped at Costco because it is on the way home and Sister Gorgas, one of the office sisters needed a few things.  We could only find one of the items she wanted.  We purchased a few things and went back to the office with the boot (trunk of the car) full.  We looked like Santa with his load of presents.  And of course, Elder Wallace had a hot dog and I had a baked potato with pork & beans before leaving Costco.  £3 for lunch is not bad at all.

We returned to the office to work a few more hours.  We tried to get away earlier to study our lessons for Institute beside fix Mac & Cheese for the YSA.  I forgot the veggies and dip.  The combination of colour for dinner was blah: baguettes, Mac & Cheese and cookies.  Elder Wallace gave a great lesson on Alma 43-51 and I gave a lesson on Alma 52-63 - the war chapters.  Before class I was asking the YSA how they thought Institute was going.  They would like to see more discussions and open ended questions instead of asking questions that is seeking an answer.   I was trying to not make the lesson like the others since that comment. Toward the end I bore my testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel and what it has meant to me through the years.  A sweet YSA sister talked about her problems and what she has been going through the past four years.  She has a condition that affects her back and has to have surgeries.  She wants to go on a mission and it is her desire to serve.  She is finding other ways of sharing the gospel and making that her mission. It has taken a while to know the YSA.  Home Evening is going well and the Sunday School teachers in the wards are making it happen.  We go as a support and bring food.  I am not sure if they love us or the food I bring.  Probably both!!!    We are praying our missionaries besides the YSA!
