- Elder Wallace left home at 8 am to pick up our bag and tablets left at institute the night before. He picked up Elder Botta and Elder Skaue had keys to church aftwewards taking them to train station.
- I stayed home to write on blog and do laundry and clean. Nice to have a few minutes to unwind and take a break from the busy schedule. Returned to the office at 9:40 am. Okay - an hour an half is better than nothing. I was able to do 3 loads of laundry!!!
- Sister Gorgas and I spent the morning deciding how to organise the office files. She is helping me with the flat folders. I ordered a labels from Amazon, 3 king size bed frames from Wayfair and Elder Wallace stopped at SW Smith to buy coloured spots. Sister Gorgas is a blessing to me. We work so well together.
- Worked in the office and returned home to have a frozen pizza and delicious green salad.
- Church announced the change of 19 missions which includes The England London South Mission. After 1 July 2018 the mission will be gone and replaced with London and Birmingham Mission. The news is out and we can talk about it.
- Picked up Janet Harkness and Donna from Lingfield Train Station at 6 pm.
- Cleaned the East Grinstead Church with Emma Neals and son.
- I visited with Lesley Bridgstock about the closing of the mission. She was very sad I had brought her bad news. She was worried about all the things we have upgraded the place. I told her she didn't need to worry. We would leave it all!!
Elder Wallace and I have been having some sleepless nights two weeks ago when the Mission President met with the staff and told us about the closing of the London South Mission. Three zones will be going to the Birmingham Mission and six zones will be going to the London Mission. The church is trying to allocate resources to needed area and with the reduction of 20,000 missionaries they need to combine and open 5 new missions. When I heard about the church combining missions I had this feeling that we would be affected. I asked Elder Wallace several times if he thought we would be part of the reorganisation. He didn't think so because our mission is so big. We are excited to know what our fate will be in July. We will go and do whatever the Lord wants us to do. We did call President Gubler and told him we are happy to keep doing YSA in Crawley or whatever the Lord wants.
These changes have been happening all over Europe and maybe all over the world. I suspect you will be part of the London mission because Birmingham is so far to the north. The next question is: what will they do with you? Put you in the London office? Or stay as institute teachers? What exciting, albeit unsettling, news!
