Elder Wallace spent the day with Elder Madden moving furniture and rubbish from the sister missionaries in Bath and the elders in Towbridge. Elder Wallace was able to deliver the items from IKEA to Sister Madden for the missionaries in her zone and took Elder Madden with him. (This is the first time he has been away from his wife since they came on the mission.) The sisters in Bath had a new dryer they weren't using and 2 broken wooden chairs and few other items and the Elders in Towbridge had lots of rubbish that needed to go.
I spent the day in the office working on files and for lunch went to East Grinstead with Sister Harkness to return a parking pass from a closed flat to Leaders Letting Agency and return a dehumidifier to another closed flat that we accidentally took. We went to the bank and to the health food store for ingredients to make Homemade Granola. After our errands were done we went to Fayre & Square Pub. It has been so cold here that I had a hot chocolate and creamed vegetable soup with bread. Sister Harkness ordered a Yorkshire Pudding bowl that had mashed potatoes, roast and gravy with veggies. I got a taste. It was delicious. I want to take Elder Wallace there. It is very inexpensive. You get two dinners for £10. Okay-in Pubs you go to the bar and order your meal and pay for it and sit down. You even pour your own glass of water. They will bring you the meal and you don't see them again and no tipping in England. The food is really good. Two days in a row I have been to Fayre & Square for a meal.
I stayed at the office till 6:30 pm waiting for my hubby. I was able to send emails, finish a report, and was in the middle of cleaning the mission office when he got back. He looked so tired. We returned home and pulled out a frozen thick crust cheese pizza and made a green salad for dinner. I finished up some laundry from the morning and ironed Elder Wallace's white shirts. I put on a show called "Rescued" which had a double meaning when you watched it. It was about two LDS people with their boss flying to another country in small plane and the plane has problems and crashes in the ocean. The girl really liked the looks of her boss and the boy loved her. It showed who really took responsibility and got them off the island. That is the kind of movie that you only need to watch once and cleaning and ironing it the best way to watch it.
It was so nice to be home. Elder Wallace talked about his exciting day meeting missionaries and getting rid of rubbish and delivering items. Elder Madden and Elder Wallace went to a rubbish recycling centre and that closed 5 minutes before they got there. They were held up in traffic! That's normal for London!

We were up at 5:30 am and started chores washing sheets by 6:30 am. Got ready for the day and was to the office at 8 am. We did two flat inspections at Eastbourne and Hasting. We took the sisters in Eastbourne new pots & pans, towels, rug for the bathroom, and a shopping cart.
We went through their closets and and they got ride of three suitcases and extra clothes that missionaries have left. We need to go back and get a couch and some chairs but we didn't have room for them since the van was so full of rubbish. The Elders in Hasting met us with a letter telling them to vacate the property on March 22. We delivered the dryer brought from Eastbourne and a shower curtain. The stairs going into the flat was so steep and they had to lift the dryer up high because the metal railing leading down the stairs was tall and skinny. There are some needs with this flat. There was a bit of mould in the bathroom and the shower curtains needed to be washed. The Elders were so cute. They didn't know that the curtains could be washed. We also took some clothes and other things leftover from past missionaries.
The flat needs new beds and get rid of an old couch. As we left, the elders couldn't find their key. As we were driving away we got a call from the elders to make sure that Elder Wallace didn't have the key. He did not but I DID! I had forgotten that I took the keys out of the door as they were carrying the dryer into the flat. Tender mercy was we had only driven a couple of miles before the elders called.
Going to Eastborne along the coast. Loving the ocean. We would of stopped to see more but it was to cold. |
One side of Eastborne is the ocean and the other is lined with business and housing! Hard taking pictures a van. Luckily Elder Wallace the van windows that morning. |
Hastings - See a sea of houses that look over the sea! A little history of Hastings
Hastings /ˈheɪstɪŋz/ is a town and borough in East Sussex on the south coast of England, 24 mi (39 km) east of the county town of Lewes and 53 mi (85 km) south east of London. It has an estimated population of 90,254.[2][3]
Hastings gives its name to the Battle of Hastings, which took place 8 mi (13 km) to the north at Senlac Hill in 1066. The town later became one of the medieval Cinque Ports, and a popular seaside resort in the 19th century with the coming of the railway. Hastings is a fishing port with a beach-based fishing fleet.

We did find a recycling centre on the way home and stopped to unload the van. Arrived home at about 2:30 pm and had a bite to eat and went grocery shopping at Tesco. After shopping we made homemade granola for our breakfast and also chocolate popcorn for Saturday Movie Night for the temple missionaries and studied and read scriptures. The chocolate is different over here. I melted it and put over the popcorn but it never got solid and stayed a bit sticky. Putting it in the car early helped. The popcorn was a big hit! We watched "Singing in the Rain". I don't think I have ever seen it all the way through. What a delightful movie.
We had a chance to talk with Elder and Sister Baum who is serving in the London Temple until April when they will be working in the London Visitor Centre in Hyde Park. They were asking about what we will doing (still don't know for sure) when the mission closes. Elder Baum is having back issues and the bed he is sleeping on is not good. We came home and cleaned the flat for Sunday. Prayers and to bed!!! I wrote on the blog for a few minutes to catch me up on our travels. We won't feel bad if you only check in with us every few weeks. My blogs are long and lengthy! I will remember London and the wonderful experiences we are having.
Lengthy? Not at all! We love reading them. You guys seem to have a wide variety of duties and chores (mostly related to flats) and are on the go all the time. This blog will be a wonderful source of memories when you get back. In fact, you probably will have forgotten much of what you did and have written.
ReplyDeleteYou sound very busy! Your mission has become a combination of the duties we talked with you about last June! Do you know which mission you will be assigned to? We just heard about how the mission will be divided up! It will be interesting to see how it all comes together. There must be new an exciting things to happen.
