I love the opportunity to change the blog format every now and then.

We were up and going early this morning and arrive at the office just after 8 am.  Sister Gorgas arrived before us and was vacuuming the carpets.  It was the Sisters day to clean the office and she does not want to return on Saturday to clean so she came early.  Sister Gorgas loves her weekends to fix food and shop.  Elder Wallace and I took off in the van to Brighton.  We first picked up two large boxes of clothes, vacuum, dishes, and pots and pans leftover from past missionaries beside an old computer at Elder Armstrong and Elder Hardy place.  They met us outside with the items when Elder Armstrong dropped the keys into a dirty drain.  He was able to rescue the only set of keys with a metal hanger.  I told them to go make another set of keys. The next stop was Elder Sly and Elder De Carlo's residence.  We did a flat check and I was impressed with how tidy and clean the flat was.  The only thing we had them do was to clean up the small patio that had worn and wet shoes and a broken book shelf that was just wood.  Their vacuum wasn't working so we cleaned the vacuum before we left. Last flat check was at  Elder Jones and Elder Romero.  The flat had been white washed (two new missionaries from transfer) and the old missionaries left the flat dirty.  Elder Romero is clean and tidy and Elder Jones is 6'5",skinny smiles a lot and very laid back.  He is very funny and makes you laugh. He told me that his clean was different from my clean.  I told him that my clean was the one that counted!!!  (LOL)

We returned home to eat a healthy lunch of cheese, crackers, carrots, celery, cucumbers with a Ranch dip.  Elder Wallace cut up an apple to make the lunch complete. We returned to the office at 12:30 pm.  I worked the rest of the day in the office and Elder Wallace had the Office Elders help put a mattress from one of our closed flats in the van.  He then took all the rubbish to the recycle centre.  We had visitors from the Institute and YSA London Mission that wanted our help to organise a conference called 'Tents Facing the Temple" in the first part of June.  They will need help with the picking up and delivering YSA to the train station and preparing food. We told them we were happy to help.  Afterwards Elder McQuivey came to visit and we told him how much we loved his wife's granola and wanted the recipe. Sister McQuivey came down in minutes after her husband left with the recipe.  She has lost 80 pounds in the last 4 years. She is an inspiration to me.  I think the Lord is trying to tell me something.  Sister Gorgas is a vegetarian.  She brought me a loaf of wheat bread today with dried figs and dried apricots.  Now I know where to look for good whole wheat bread.

We went to dinner with the Woley's to the Thai Lounge in Lingfield.  It is our favourite Thai food. They took us to dinner because they were so thankful for taking them shopping and having them for dinner.  We need to spread out and try a few other places.  The atmosphere and decor is so appealing to dine.  We spent over two hours visiting and eating and talking about the ramifications and good things of the closing of the South London Mission.

The metal bed frames and labels arrived at the Accommodations in the late afternoon.  Dennis Doyle wanted to know what the Accommodations is.  It is a very large building across from the London Temple.  The Accommodations houses people that attend the temple besides has a large kitchen and dining room and an office and reception area where the mail is picked up and delivered for the temple, mission office, and missionaries.  The Accommodations use to the MTC to train missionaries.  The rooms are like a hotel room with a small kitchen area.  We have three of our office missionaries housed there.  We will miss the association of the temple missionaries.  The London Temple has wanted the mission office to go somewhere else for sometime.  They need the mission office for more space for housing for missionaries and members.

  1. Your mission is being closed? What will be "the good things" with its closing? Will it be after you've been released?
