Thursday, 7 December 2017

Woke early to prepare for the day.  We were able to get a couple of loads of laundry done before we left for the office.  Sister Steed, Nielson, and Leavitt came for breakfast.

We served waffle potatoes, egg burrito with cheese, onions, green peppers and a slice of bacon and orange juice.  After breakfast, we hurried out the door to drive to the office.  We packed Sister Steed's bags and headed to Heathrow.  It is not that far but you never know what happens in traffic and the rain doesn't help.  The clouds are hugging us today.  We got to hear all about Sister Steed's family and her plans for the future.  She has been a superb missionary.  We first met Sister Steed and Sister Gates at Institute with the YSA.  They introduced Richard to us who had just been baptized.  Sister Steed was very grateful to us helping her with luggage and security.  We said
I am Sister Steeds last companion!
our goodbyes and watched her wave and she left through a door.  We hurried to the car.  We had a bit of a problem trying to use our debt card to pay for the parking.  Elder Wallace finally used cash so we could be on our way.  We drove to Farnborough to drop off Sister Poulsens things.  We didn't think 15 miles seemed that far out of the way until we took a wrong turn.  We don't get to excited anymore because we do it so often when we travel to new places in England.  We realized that Sister Poulsen and her companions have some needs like mattresses.  She moved out of a place in East Grinstead and we will take better mattresses on Saturday.    It had drizzled all day until we got to the sisters flat in Farnborough when we had to unload the car. It started to rain hard.  Some people would say it rained cats and dogs and today I would agree. I looked like a drenched rat after handing the boxes and suitcases to the sisters.  The sister missionaries had umbrellas trying to keep me dry.

We got to see the sisters flat and how nice it was.  We told the threesome that we would take then to their next appointment.  They said it wasn't to far until we drove it.  Another tender mercy was when we dropped off the sisters to their appointment we were able to get on the motorway within a mile. The rain stopped and blue sky appeared as we traveled home.

We worked in the office until 5:30 pm and returned home to laundry, ironing and dishes from breakfast.  Elder Wallace and I divided up the jobs and got done just as dinner was coming out of the oven. Cottage Pie was delicious with whole wheat bread and apples.  Sister Gubler made whole wheat bread for the mission office.  Bless her heart and bless my tummy!  We decided to go to Sainsbury and do our grocery shopping.  We have lots to do this weekend.  While I wrote in my blog, Elder Wallace called the girls and read KSL News on his tablet.  Lots going on in the world and we feel so removed from it here in England.  Our prayers are with the people of Los Angeles and fires that are taking place.

I wanted to remember today is Pearl Harbor Day!  Thought about it and talked about it.
