First and foremost I got to talk to my sister, Susan on her birthday. She is always so happy and has a the cutest laugh. She appears not as stressed now that basement is finished and Katie and Toby are living downstairs. She sent pictures a few weeks ago of the construction site. It was coming very nicely. Happy Birthday a the best sister a sister could have. You're my favorite!!!
Elder Wallace and I arrived at the office early. I had to go to London and sign on two flats. Most of the signing is done on line but this letting agency wouldn't let us do that. Elder and Sister Parker drove us to Lingfield to catch the train at 10 am. The train took us into Victoria Station and from there we took the tube. We are great at asking questions of anyone for directions. We had a sweet elderly lady come to us and ask if we need help. You could tell that she was not wealthy and reminded me of the widow's mite. We were very appreciative of her help and direction. The agent, George Bridges, told us there was a tube station near the office. We needed to take another tube to the letting agency. We ended up walking about 1.5 miles. Loved the exercise. The weather was windy and a bit chilly and I was over heated by the time we arrived at the letting agency on Kennington Road. It took me 5 minutes to sign the paperwork and 6 hours of our day traveling. We met up with Elder and Sister Pearce (Purple Beds) and saw a flat and walked around the corner for a bit to eat. It was a dive but the food was something else. Delicious! I had Cottage Pie with peas and carrots and Clark had a beef mushroom pie. I think that I won for the best lunch. After paying the bill, the owner of the diner visited with us and some of the gentlemen around him. He said he could see we were a happy people inside motioning with his had to his heart. "You have a special light arount you." Sweet experience and tender moment. We told the diner owner we would send in the missionaries. Pearces dropped us off at the Clappham Junction train station.
I have only seen a few flats since I have been here but this was a flat with four elders. They will be moving into two flats.
Elder and Sister Pearce are amazing people. The have 11 children. Seven of their own, three from Russia and a 28 year old man from Bangladesh they adopted into their family. He joined the church and lost his family and country. The fifth child had downs syndrome and died at age 22. She would tell everyone that they were her favorite. They tried to explain what favorites mean but when she died and so many people came to the viewing and funeral and saw the love she had given to those around her, they realized that everyone was her favorite because she loved like Christ does. Sister Pearce always tell the missionaries that they are her favorite. I will always remember this touching story of charity.
We arrived back at the office and I worked till almost 6 pm while Elder Wallace went shopping for the YSA. Hurried home and made dinner and arrived at Crawley Stake Center with time to spare. Wonderful lesson and every bit of Beef Stroganoff with rice was all gone. Some of the young men had three serving. Elder Wallace made the stroganoff just right but I thought it needed some more liquid. Learned my lesson not to touch perfections.
Tumbled into bed. I think I was asleep within 2 minutes.
