Sunday, 8 October 2017

I forgot to tell in my blog that I made 2 pumpkin pies yesterday.  The crust turned out a little hard because I couldn't find shortening.  I had to make the crust with butter.  Pies were delicious.

I love Sundays.  I love going to church!  I look forward all week to attending church and partaking of the sacrament and listening to sermons on the Savior, gospel principles and stories from the scriptures or personal lives of the members.  Elder Wallace and I attended the Epsom Ward for the first time. It took us about 40 minutes to get to Epsom and the same to return. There was about 15 people in the audience when church started and then more people came in later.  The ward was very friendly.  The missionaries were at the front door welcoming everyone.  A new YSA leader was put in.  Her name is Jose.  I rushed over to meet her and introduce myself after sacrament meeting.  She had come to the first institute class and was not there last week.  I encouraged her to attend.  To my surprise she taught the Relief Society Lesson on Virtue.  She did a great job for her 23 years of age. Jose asked great questions and insight into the lesson.  Brother and Sister Woodward and Elder Regnier from Canada talked in sacrament meeting. Brother Woodward is the Elders Quorum Leader.  Elder Regnier (French) just came out a few days after us.  He was nervous giving a talk to so many people because there was only 15 in his branch at home.  The theme was the power of scriptures in our lives.    We were gone most of the day.  We departed at 9 am and return at 2 pm.

Lunch was leftovers from last night Canada Thanksgiving Dinner.  A roll with turkey, apple, broccoli salad and cauliflower.  Sister Corbett will make the cauliflower vegetables for a dinner.  She puts sour cream, mayo, cheese, ham or bacon, and cauliflower together to make a delicious dinner.  I want - need - that recipe.  Clark will even eat it and he doesn't enjoy cauliflower.  Thank you Sister Corbett for leftovers today.  Clark enjoyed reading from the Conference talks while I updated the blog.  He was able to get a nap in also.

Elder Wallace and I attended what is called the "Hi's & Bye"s" meeting which means the new missionaries for the mission or temple tell about themselves while those leaving say goodbye.  We got to say a few things to the group about ourselves.  There were 8 couples coming and 1 going home. We were the only one from the mission to introduce ourselves.  Everyone else are serving in the London Temple.  Everyone brings a dish of something or dessert. You could not believe the amount of goodies- desserts, drinks, soups, biscuts, quiche. I brought the leftover pumpkin pie.  Everyone loved it.  I was happy to share.    Clark and I decided before had that we would use that as our dinner and soooooo glad that we did.  We got to meet the Temple Presidency and their wives besides many darling couples.  I do miss working in the temple and having the special association with the sisters.

We got to talk Emily and Marjorie tonight and now ready for prayers and reading scriptures.
