Elder and Sister Seamans, Elder Wallace and I went to Bodiam Castle today.  We drove about an hour near Robertsbridge, East Sussex.  The drive was incredible.  The rolling hills, lush green landscape, and trees that arch over the road to make living tunnels to drive through. The Seamans took us out for a yummy lunch. The men had fish and chips while Sister Seamans had a pot pie and I had hot pea soup and baguette. I made everyone jump when I spilled my water.  We got home and 4 pm and dressed for Saturday  morning General Conference at the London Temple Visitors Center at 5 PM.  I was homesick hearing the Tabernacle Choir and watching General Conference.  I have been blessed all my life with a living prophet and the headquarters of the church in Salt Lake City.  I took it for granted until I didn't have it in my life.  It is an effort to watch conference here.  Will always be grateful for the experience of living here in England.  We got a chance to talk all three of our girls after conference in the London Temple parking lot.  That is the best place for reception with cell phones.  Came home to relax and listen to the afternoon General Conference at 9 PM.

Sir Edward Dallingridge built the medieval castle in 1385 to defend against possible French invasion or local rebellions.  We walked all around the castle and saw the moat the surrounded the castle.  The inside of the castle was probably dismantled during the English Civil War.  It later fell into disrepair.  Lord Curzon bought Bodiam Castle and gave it to the National Trust in 1926.  Please enjoy the pictures.

  1. The pictures are wonderful. It's interesting that the British spell the word "mote," whereas we spell it "moat."

  2. I Remember going to see castles when I was there. Portchester Castle is awesome as well. I don't know if you will ever get down that far south, but if you do, check it out. I hope you get a chance to go to Stonehenge, that would be totally awesome.
