MTC 2nd Day

Day 2 of the MTC - I love the MTC.  I love the Elders and Sisters, I love the food, and I love the sweet spirit that prevails.  (not in love with the bed-to soft-it must be the mama bears bed but I need the papa bears bed-to hard!)  We were one of the first missionaries to get breakfast arriving at 6:54 am.  It is true that the early bird gets the worm.  There is a variety of food and I tried oatmeal cereal with cinnamon sugar, raisins and chocolate chips.  I loved it.  The chocolate chips are a new twist and I think the grand-kids would love it.  The senior missionaries met at 8:00 am and split into district.  We had Sister Whitten a forth year student at BYU and a returned missionary for the morning training.  Sister Whitten taught us about how we need to Identify needs of a investigator to find out what they need to know and act on a gospel principle.  You then invite them to action like inviting them to church or read a scripture.  Then you teach them the doctrine and testify of the truthfulness of the action. Elder and Sister Hick have been assigned our companion couple.  We were able to sit down and learn about them and visa versa. We needed to get to know them so that we can Identify-Invite-Doctrine. We will do more teaching and training with them later in the week.  Lunch is served between 12 noon and 1 pm for us.  Clark and I split a pizza and salad which  which was the perfect amount.  It is hard to stay away from the desserts at every meal. Brother McCleary, a returned missionary and student at BYU was our teacher for the afternoon training.  We spent the afternoon learning and commenting on how the power of the Holy Ghost is central to conversion.  We walked to the new MTC building.  It is fabulous.  We did some training in front of one of the murals.   Classes were over at 4:30 pm and dinner starts at 5:00 PM.  I feel like we are eating all the time.  I am enjoying not having to cook and clean.  Dinner was chicken with a raspberry sauce, rice and mixed veggies.  Yum!  The MTC has a devotional every Tuesday night.  Elder Dallin H Oaks and his wife Kristin were the devotional speakers.  There is nothing to say but WOW when you are part of 2500 missionaries singing Called To Serve.  We met up with Becki Hansen and took a picture. I have known Becki since she was eight and living in our ward.  She has a sweet disposition and infectious smile. (will post picture tomorrow)  It is time for study and off to bed for some shut eye.

The famous MTC map of the world!  I was not able to reach our area of service.
England seems so far away when you see it a wall size map.

We met up with Elder and Sister Hendricks, Julia Skoubye's brother and his wife.

  2. Well, I did write something but I don't see that it made it to the box. Will it come later? Will it show up elsewhere? Hmmm.

When we entered the MTC, we were encouraged to find the soft ice cream machines in the cafeteria. They were not easy to find but they were a popular secret! Find out if they are still around! You'll like the find! Denny golfed today in Tooele...soccer at 5. I'm wearing my real hair today.
