Monday, 22 October 2018
Went shopping at Tesco to feed 16 departing missionaries and 6 couples and 2 AP's.
Dinner for Departing Missionaries
We ended up with four sister missionaries staying the night. Sister Cryer didn't have a place to go because her parents were picking her up. Sister Poulsen also stayed beside two other Sisters who were leaving at 9:30 pm and 10:30 pm the next day.
Tuesday, 23 October 2018
Setup lunch in two places for the missionaries-High Council Room and in the basement for the Training Missionaries.
11 new arriving missionaries
Elder Wallace went to Tesco to pick up apples and peelers for lunch.
Sandwiches and cookies from Subway. I bought crisps (potato chips for us), peelers and apples feed over 30 missionaries. Elder and Sister Peck arrived. Elder Wallace picked them up from Heathrow and arrived just in time for lunch. Sister Peck was anxious to help. I let her help with mail and a few other small items. Elder Wallace took them over to our flat and they stayed the night.
Wednesday, 24 October 2018
Brother Theed came to take the Peck's driving and met us at their new flat in Hayward Heath. The Crawley Stake has been wanting a couple for YSA. We drove the van to the new flat. Before arrive we found a Tesco to buy some food for the Peck's.
Returned home later than we wanted but never plan on being on time when you drive into London. Give yourself an extra two hours of travel and be surprised if you arrive early.
We decided to exercise and take a walk around the Muesum. Saw Christmas lights and people ice skating around a large Christmas tree that wasn't lit. Came home and crashed.
We did do a couple of loads of laundry.
Thursday, 25 October 2018
Baptism & leadership letters. Mail, driver licenses, flats, and other things.
Sister Gorgas came and worked.
Singing Practice for the Stake Choir in a couple of weeks.
Drove to Tesco to check out turkeys for our Thanksgiving dinner at Zone Conference.
I returned back to the office to finish the letters for the missionaries that got new assignments. The letters to have signed before President Checketts leaves tomorrow.
Friday, 26 October 2018
Ordered driving test for 31 October 2018 and it will be a great day to be scared.
Organized the storage room behind our office. I got the fridge and freezer defrosting.
Sister Ernstom makes me laugh.
Saturday, 27 October 2018
Grocery Shopped, cleaned out the fridge and freezer and had missionaries carry them to the downstairs storage room, and then worked in organizing the basement room, Elder Wallace spent 3 hours driving to and from Hyundai to get a part for the President's car. We did a turkey dinner with pumpkin pie as a pre-trial Thanksgiving dinner before Zone Conference in a week. We invited four sister missionaries that have been so helpful while we moved. At the last minute we had President and Sister Checketts come. The dinner was very tasty and the pumpkin pie divine. Elder Wallace said it was the best pumpkin pie he has ever had. I think it was because he made the crust for the pie. I used Mary Berry's pie recipe. It was very crispy and thin but what a mess. It kept falling a part after rolling it out and trying to put in the pie crust. I had to assemble in pieces and hoped for best. I must say the dinner was tasty.
Sunday, 28 October 2018
Rainy day to walk to the tube, church, quiet Primary, dinner with 5 of the Exchange students
from BYU. Played Five Crowns while Elder Wallace did dishes.
Monday, 29 October 2018
MLC today. We went shopping early for the food for MLC. We did not have the availablity of using the kitchen and cultural hall today. We served Chicken Salad sandwiches with the help of the Bullocks, Sister Ernstom and Sister Phillips. I had more compliments on the lunch than any other I have done.
Dinner at The Old Dutch and had a savory and sweet crepe. 8 couples showed up. The Phillips said they had a better way to go to the restaurant that took us over 1/2 an hour. Sister Phillips felt bad especially when the bus was was a bit late. The Bullocks, Webbs, Baums, and the Dransfields waited for us at the restaurant until we arrived 30 minutes late. Fun being with the Phillips, Ernstroms, Fawsons, besides the other four couples. Elder Wallace organized the get-together.
Visited with Emily, Marjorie and the DuPaix's.
Tuesday, 30 October 2018
Arrived at the office at 7 am. Tried to get a lot done. Elder Wallace took President and Sister Checketts to the airport to attend a President's Conference at 8:30 am. I was able to get many things done today because we had very little interruptions with the Checketts out of the office. We had a few stray missionary companionship come and visit but the day was fairly quiet. I did passports, ordered copies of the Book of Mormon and other items besides running back and forth from home to do 3 loads of laundry. It is nice to know I will climb into clean sheets tonight. I also worked on flat files for Elder Wallace besides organizing some of the selves. We invited the Christensen's for dinner. They are working late at the Visitor Center. Sister Christensen came over for dinner. We served a cottage pie. Sister Christensen took the rest of the dinner to Edler Christensen. He was not able to leave the VC. I went back to the Hyde Park Chapel with Sister Christensen about 7 pm. I worked on letters for over two hours and got them done. YaY! Elder Wallace did dishes and made granola while I was gone.
Mary Kaye sent an email wanting to know what was happening with us. The truth is I am so tired when I get home I don't have the energy to get on the computer.
