Got up earlier than expected to fill weekly medicine pill boxes. I fill them for 3 weeks. Thank you again to Porter and Liz (Gubler) for bringing medicine from Utah to us. Wrote thank you's and birthday cards and cut up veggies for MLC today. Clark was a big help in pealing the carrots and cucumbers. The sisters in the office prepared and cooked 50 baking potatoes to take to MLC. We took mail, packages, food, clothes, things for the flats, and ourselves and headed for MLC in Staines. It was totally blue skies and sunshine!!! What a special treat! I love to put my face toward the rays of the sun. Happy Day! We feel very blessed to be driving in such a glorious and perfect morning! The drive took us longer than usual - should of taken 1 hour took us 1 hour and 45 minutes to go 44 miles.
Elder and Sister Madden were glad to see us and have the help. She has been doing breakfast and lunch for 50 missionaries once a month since they got to England. We are trying to give her some support. She called earlier in the day telling me that her chili never got cold in the fridge and if we could eat it. I was not sure and had her call Sister Parker. They have been in food services for years. 3 crock pots of chili where thrown out and 3 crock pots of new chili were cooking when we arrived. Sister Parker said that bacteria is the worst in a tomato base. Lunch was served-baked potatoes, chili, sour cream, vegetables with humus, ranch dressing, and onion dip. Missionaries did not eat a lot of veggies but they loved the ranch dressing for dip. Dessert was brownies broken up in a cup then sliced bananas, vanilla pudding and whipping cream to top off the dessert. Dessert was a big hit. Try it! We quickly cleaned up and followed Maddens as they took us to Costco. We bought pepper, white napkins, Pepsi Max for Sister Harkness, and two plastic containers to fit under the bed.
Elder and Sister Madden are the senior missionaries for Staines. They do a terrific job in taking care of the missionary flats, YSA, and working a the stake level. I have been trying to work on a zone every week or two and take care of their needs. We have been buying needed sheets, pillows, mattresses, and getting ride of unwanted furniture. After Costcos we drove back to Maddens place and they drove us to IKEA. We bought 7 sets of sheets, 13 flat sheets, mirror, drapes and rods for flats in Staines. We bought a 9 x 13 pan, sandwich bags, and 2 packages of napkins for us.
We arrived home after 8:30 pm. A long day for two weary travelers. As I walked in the house I could smell something funny. I thought it might be shelves that the Bridgstocks were going to build for us. No shelves! I checked the stove and low and behold one of the switches has been on. I quickly opened the front door wide. Clark got the chills! Clark was not feeling well. He started to shake uncontrollably. I opened a window and got the vent and fan going. Clark was not pleased because he couldn't smell anything. I got a little put off because he discounted what I said. I apologized for being a stinker but when gas is concerned I don't want to take any chances.
We got to say hello to our favorite Kate on her birthday and visit with Emily for a few minutes. Nightly prayers and reading out of the Book of Mormon and off to sleep. It's way past our bedtime.
